Man Accused Of Assaulting Girlfriend’s Toddler in Skowhegan

Skowhegan Police say a man has been arrested after a 2-year-old child was found unresponsive on Thursday.

Originally, the girl's mother told the officers that her daughter had fallen down the stairs at the Indian Ridge Apartments. But when she was taken to the hospital with serious injuries, doctors told authorities it appeared that she wasn't hurt on Thursday, and an arrest warrant was issued for the woman's boyfriend, 25-year-old Cody Swanson.

He was arrested on Friday and taken to the Somerset County Jail. Swanson is charged with aggravated assault.

WGME-TV reports the girl was breathing on her own Saturday afternoon and had opened her eyes.
