It was a rainy and, in some areas, icy day on Friday when a single-vehicle crash blossomed into a multi-vehicle series of accidents.
Luckily, the Maine State Police say no one was hurt.
Troopers were called to a crash on I-295 northbound near mile marker 16 in Yarmouth at approximately 7 am.
The initial crash involved only a single vehicle, which left the roadway and came to rest in the median.

Two good Samaritans stopped their vehicles on the median shoulder and attempted to help the driver of the crashed vehicle.
Those two stopped vehicles were then struck by a fourth vehicle that was traveling north. The good Samaritans were outside their vehicles at this point.

That impact pushed one of the stopped vehicles into the original vehicle that was still in the median.
Police say the striking vehicle then became fully engulfed in flames.
