Two Maine teens were arrested in North Carolina after the police pursuit of a stolen truck ended in a crash.

16-year-old Layana Litalien and a 15-year-old were reported as runaways from the Augusta, Maine area.

They came to the attention of the North Carolina Highway Patrol last week when they were allegedly speeding on I-95 in Johnston County in a stolen pickup truck.
Maine Teens Arrested After Leading North Carolina Troopers on a High-Speed Pursuit
When a trooper tried to get the vehicle to pull over, the driver took off, and a high-speed chase ensued.
According to the North Carolina Highway Patrol, the truck the pair was driving had been reported stolen from Henrico, Virginia.

The pursuit ended when the driver lost control of the truck on an off-ramp and crashed.
Officials say the truck became airborne before landing on the hood of an SUV. It then descended a steep embankment before nearly hitting a mobile home.
North Carolina Troopers Catch 2 Maine Runaways After High-Speed Chase on I-95
The teens jumped from the vehicle and ran into a wooded area, prompting a manhunt that was eventually called off. People in a nearby neighborhood reported to the police that the teens had been knocking on their doors.
The runaways were caught the next afternoon in a nearby park, where the driver was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
WRAL-TV reports Layana Litalien, 16, is charged with a felony count of a passenger fleeing an accident with injuries. Litalien was granted a $20,000 bail.
The 15-year-old was taken to the Johnston County Juvenile Counseling Center.
