A 39-year-old woman is charged with murder for the death of a 14-year-old boy in Sidney.

Maine Officials Arrested the Sidney Murder Suspect Friday Afternoon

Megan McDonald, 39, was taken into custody on the afternoon of Friday, December 20th and charged with murder. The name of the victim has not been released.

A Woman Went to the Androscoggin Sheriff's Office to Report the Fatal Incident

Maine Department of Public Safety Spokesperson Shannon Moss says an adult female arrived at the Androscoggin County Sheriff's Office just before 5:30 in the morning. She reported an incident that happened at her home on Summerhaven Road in Sidney. Officials have not released the details of that incident.

Officials Say the Maine 14-Year-Old Was Murdered

Members of the Androscoggin and Kennebec County Sheriff's Offices conducted a well-being check at the residence and found a deceased 14-year-old male outside of the home. His body was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta where an autopsy determined the cause of death was a combination of asphyxiation, manual strangulation, and sharp force injury. The manner of death has been ruled a homicide.

An investigation into the circumstances of the incident led authorities to arrest Megan McDonald and transport her to the Kennebec Correctional Facility. This remains an active investigation.
