Loving the Beach Didn't Come Naturally But Rather By Marriage

Honestly, I never thought about the beach much when I was growing up. My family traveled all summer, living in a pop-up camper, spending more time enjoying campfires in the woods than time at the ocean. That's not to say I never saw the ocean. I've been in both the Atlantic and Pacific, but it's never been my go-to destination.

That is, until I met my husband, who grew up on the Jersey Shore. Suddenly, we were taking impromptu after-work drives to Reid State Park, outside Bath. I found myself captivated by the beauty, the roar of the waves, and the shore birds. After a trip to Point Pleasant Beach, New Jersey (yes, the one named on the wall of Jersey Mike's subs), I was hooked. Now, I spend the winter looking at ocean videos, live cams of Hawaii, and my favorite beach photos to block out the cold and wind.

February is the Coldest Month of the Year So a Great Time to Look at Beach Photos

It's so healing for me that I thought I would share the photos with others who may be feeling that February burn-out. I've always hated February because it's the coldest month of a Maine winter. At UMaine in Orono, I lived all the way across campus from my classes and had no car. I have hated February for a very long time.
