State Police are investigating the death of a woman in her Hartford home.

Department of Public Safety spokesman Steve McCausland says the incident was reported just after midnight, inside a home on Bear Mountain Road. An autopsy is planned today on the body of 41-year-old Ana Cordeiro at the State Medical Examiner's Office in Augusta, to determine cause of death.

Cordeiro lived with her boyfriend, 46-year-old Rondon Athayde, who has been questioned by police and is cooperating with the investigation. Their two children, ages 3 and 4, are being cared for away from the residence. Police say Athayde called 911 just after midnight and members of the State Police and Oxford County Sheriff's Office responded to the home. Detectives and evidence technicians are expected to be at the address for most of the day.

We'll update this story when more details become available.
