Maine Senate Says No To Labrador Retriever As State Dog
A bill that would make the Labrador retriever the official Maine state dog has been shot down by the Senate.
The state Senate voted against the bill, 24-10. Opponents said it was inappropriate to play favorites and choose one breed over another.
Supporters of the bill said Labrador retrievers would represent the state well because they're friendly, hard-working and love the outdoors.
The bill now heads to the House.
