Maine Postal Carriers Reported Being Robbed by the NJ Men at Knifepoint
The charges stem from a series of incidents that occurred during a one-week period in January 2024 when McLeod and Funderbunk broke into the Paris and North Monmouth, Maine post offices. The U.S. Attorney's Office, District of Maine says they stole money order printers, mail, computers, post office box keys, and other items. The two men then robbed two Lewiston postal carriers on January 20, 2024, threatening to stab each of them with a knife unless they turned over their postal keys.
The two men were arrested during a traffic stop when police searched the vehicle. Seized in that search were a black butterfly knife, black ski mask, large sums of cash, and several checks determined to have been stolen from the Paris post office.
Evidence in the Case Included a Picture of 1 Suspect on a Phone Found at the Scene
When Postal Inspectors were investigating, they also found two iPhones in the snow directly beneath a broken window used to access the post office. McLeod's photo was on the lock screen of one of those phones. Additional stolen items were also found near and at the address where the two men were staying.
