Maine Police Say 1 Person Seriously Hurt in an Interstate Crash
State Police say speed and possible impairment may have contributed to a single-vehicle crash on I-95 in Fairfield.
The Driver Was Seriously Hurt, But His Passenger Had Minor Injuries
Two people were in the vehicle involved in this crash. The driver, Derrick Plowden, 25, of Rockland was taken to Maine Medical Center, where he was listed in stable but critical condition. His passenger, Jimal Gerard, 35, of Rockland sustained minor injuries.

The Jeep Was On Its Roof When Troopers Arrived
It was approximately 9:38 Wednesday night when Maine State Police responded to a single-vehicle crash in the northbound lane of I-95 in Fairfield. When Troopers arrived, they found a 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee on its roof in the median with bystanders helping the two people who were in the vehicle at the time of the crash. Gerard had been able to crawl out of the Jeep and sustained only minor injuries. But the driver, Derrick Plowden had to be extricated from the vehicle. He was transported to the hospital.
Speed and Impairment May Have Been Factors in the Crash
Maine Department of Public Safety spokesperson Shannon Moss says speed and suspected impairment are likely factors in the crash, which remains under investigation. Maine State Police are asking that anyone with additional information about the crash contact Trooper Randy Hall at 624-7076.
