Maine Officials ID Southwest Harbor Body, Call It a Hit and Run

The death of a woman whose body was found in a ditch in Southwest Harbor is now considered a hit and run.

Who is the Victim?

It was early on the morning of June 11th, when a passerby discovered a woman's body in a ditch along Main Street in Southwest Harbor. Maine Department of Public Safety spokesperson Shannon Moss says the victim has been identified as Amber Robbins, 35, of Tremont.

How Did She Die?

The Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta conducted an autopsy and determined that Robbins died of blunt force trauma. Her death is considered to be the result of being hit by a vehicle and the case is being investigated as a hit-and-run motor vehicle crash. Police don't believe there's any ongoing threat to the public.
