Hunters looking to obtain a moose permit can apply online, but not by mail.
The Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife has announced that moose permit applications will only be accepted via their website. In the past hunters have been able to mail in an application directly to MDIFW.
If an applicant doesn't have access to a computer or internet, MDIFW suggests using one at a local library, a friend, or a work computer on lunch break.
According to a press release from MDIFW, the moose lottery drawing will be held in Skowhegan. The town is hosting the first-ever Skowhegan Moose Festival June 8-10, at the Skowhegan Fairgrounds. The moose permit lottery drawing will be on June 9.
The number of moose permits for the 2018 hunt has not been announced.
Hunters have until May, 15 to apply.
The fill out an application, click over to Maine.gov. Once completed you'll receive a confirmation email indicating that you successfully entered the permit lottery.
