The liberal arts college in Waterville has ranked at the very top of a list of colleges that love beer the most.

The Princeton Review’s 2026 college rankings are based on survey responses from 172,000 students attending the 392 schools featured in its Best Colleges book.
Rather than producing one overall ranking, The Princeton Review lists the top 25 schools across 50 categories based on students’ opinions about academics, campus life and other parts of the college experience.

The Princeton Review’s “Lots of Beer” ranking is based on students’ responses about how widely beer is consumed at their schools.
Colby College in Waterville ranked No. 1 in the country.

On The Princeton Review’s Colby College profile, students describe the Waterville liberal arts school as emphasizing active learning, strong academics and broad support for academic, professional and international opportunities.
Students also praised Colby’s responsive professors, experiential courses, study-abroad programs and January term, which allows them to pursue specialized classes, internships and independent projects, showing they’re not just all about beer.

And there you have it! While Colby topped the beer ranking, students also highlighted the school’s academics, opportunities and hands-on learning experiences.
