Maine Man Sentenced For Times Square Attack on New York City Cops
A man from Maine who attacked several cops with a machete in Times Square on New Years Eve has received his sentence.
Wells Man Was 19 When He Attacked NYC Cops
Trevor Bickford of Wells was 19-years-old when he traveled to New York City, with an intention to carry out jihad. His radical views concerned a family member enough that they contacted the FBI about his jihadist tendencies.

Bickford Told Investigators His Mission Was a Failure
On New Year's Eve, Bickford waited in Times Square until three New York City Police Officers had moved away from people before attacking them. He tried to grab a gun from one officer's holster but couldn't reach it. In the course of the attack, Bickford injured three officers before being taken into custody. He would later tell investigators that he failed in his mission because none of the officers died.
Bickford pleaded guilty in a New York courtroom to three counts of attempted murder of government officials and three counts of assault on government officials. He faced a potential maximum of 120 years in prison.
He Was Sentenced On Friday
On Friday, WABC-TV reports that Trevor Bickford was sentenced to 27 years in prison.
