A Maine man is facing multiple charges after some strange interactions with residents ended in a physical altercation with a Sheriff's Deputy.

Who is the Suspect?

The Cumberland County Sheriff's Office has charged Christopher Hunt, 42, of Sebago, with assault on a law enforcement officer, refusing to submit to arrest or detention, and violating his conditions of release. Officials say at the time of his arrest, he was out on six sets of bail conditions.

What Happened?

Members of the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office were called to the area of Sebago and Folly Roads in Sebago on Thursday, February 2nd, just before 3:00 in the afternoon after receiving reports of a man who was interfering in traffic. The man, later identified as Hunt, was allegedly walking into the roadway and flagging down vehicles, forcing them to stop. Once they did, officials say Hunt would try to get inside the vehicles.

The suspect ran when he saw the deputies. In a matter of moments, they received a report from a local resident that a man was trying to force his way inside their home. A Deputy arrived on that scene and chased the suspect on foot before catching up to him. At this point, officials say the suspect struck the Deputy in the face multiple times with a closed fist.

How Did Deputies Get the Man Into Custody?

A neighbor from the area and a passing motorist ran to the Deputy's aid and, with help from more law enforcement officers, including an off-duty Windham officer, they were able to take Hunt into custody. The Deputy was transported to Maine Medical Center to be treated for minor injuries and released.
