It was an interesting exercise going through my mental files of stories I've written over my many years in news, and finding the ones that stood out to me. For this list, I avoided the obvious, like the North Pond Hermit, or the tragic death of Somerset County Sheriff's Corporal Eugene Cole.

I avoided politics because there are just too many stories to choose from, like Presidential candidate Bill Clinton speaking in a hangar at BIA, or the time Governor Paul LePage telling the President of the United States to kiss his...er....butt.

Remember the year we all locked our doors and checked the backseat of our vehicles because of a major manhunt that had gone on for far too long?
