I'm a big fan of the Firehouse Subs restaurant, their delicious sandwiches, and the fact that they support firefighters across the country. But I always wondered what types of things they actually buy for fire departments. I assumed it would be things like new hoses, firefighting suits, and possibly even thermal imaging cameras.

But I never imagined they bought individual departments gifts as big as the one they just gave to the Corinna Fire Department.

Corinna's Fire Department Got a Piece of Equipment So Valuable in Maine

It's something vital to fighting fires in Maine. Something that Lainey Wilson sings about. An item the Corinna firefighters will love when they get their turn to drive it.

Nope, it's not a firetruck. It's a beautiful new CanAM UTV, according to the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation Facebook page. It will be invaluable to the Maine fire department for things like wilderness rescues and wildfires. While the vehicle has tires in the picture, there are also treads that can be put on for winter rescues.

Firehouse Foundation Provides Grants to Departments Across the Country

Corinna's Fire Chief Allen Emerson told WABI-TV that the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation actually gave the department a $40,000 grant in order to buy the UTV, an amount they likely wouldn't have been able to raise on their own.

According to the foundation's website, 393 sets of bunker gear, 276 thermal imaging cameras, 537 AEDs, 30 all terrain vehicles, 85 extrication tools, and 29 scholarships were provided in 2024.
