Officials Say the Maine Man Had Been Using a Propane Torch

Maine Department of Public Safety spokesperson Shannon Moss says the State Fire Marshal's Office was requested to respond to a fatal explosion in Molunkus at 118 Aroostook Road.

An initial investigation indicated that Holmes, who owns the property, was using a propane torch to thaw a frozen water tank on a commercial truck. At some point, the torch flame went out and propane gas collected in and around the tank. A second torch being used is suspected as the ignition source. Mr. Holmes was pronounced deceased at the scene.
