The Denmark, Maine Woman Faced Two Counts of Murder

Tzara Jones, 53, of Denmark, Maine is charged with two counts of murder. She was the caretaker for her grandmother, 93-year-old Aremean Mayo, and Jones' partner, 69-year-old Michael Willett. They were both found deceased in November 2023.

Maine's Chief Medical Examiner Says the 2 People Had Been Dead for More Than a Day

Maine Department of Public Safety spokesperson Shannon Moss reported the home where the two people died almost a year ago belonged to Mr. Willett. Jones took care of both of them, including Willett who was confined to a wheelchair. Their bodies were discovered by members of the Oxford County Sheriff's Office, who went to the home to conduct a welfare check. When deputies got to the house, Jones refused to let them enter. They obtained a search warrant and that's when they found the deceased. It was the third time the deputies had responded to requests for welfare checks at the Fuller Lane home.

WGME-TV reports autopsies on the bodies determined that both had been stabbed multiple times and had been dead for more than 24 hours when the deputies found them.

Tzara Jones Says She Believes She's the Daughter of God

Jones was taken to a local hospital for an evaluation and then to jail, charged with two counts of murder. When asked why she would kill them, Jones allegedly said she was tired of taking care of them. This week, a judge deemed her mentally unfit to stand trial. A psychologist testified that Jones says she hears voices and believes that she is God's daughter. They suggested that she be placed in the custody of the Maine Department of Health and Human Services and the judge agreed.
