An innocent-looking doll, some believe to be demonically possessed, will be displayed at a convention in Maine in September.

Maine Horror Movie Enthusiasts are Already Familiar with the Annabelle Story

My husband and I are horror movie lovers. While we don't enjoy slasher movies with buckets of fake blood, we do like movies that are scary, creepy, and give us some good jump scares.

It's not reality, after all. It's just a movie.

Unless you're talking about Annabelle.

Annabelle the Doll Will Visit Maine On a Tour That Explains Her Evil Legacy

She has been the subject of movies by that name and was the centerpiece for the Conjuring movies, which tell the story of American paranormal investigators, Ed and Lorraine Warren.

Annabelle is not the doll we see in the movies, but is a sweet-looking Raggedy Ann doll. Still, according to legend, the doll is inhabited by a demonic entity.

Warning - this trailer is graphic and could be disturbing to children and many adults.

The Warrens wrote that Annabelle was at the center of one of their cases when they were called to investigate strange occurrences in a home. Once the case was done, the couple brought Annabelle to their museum in Monroe, Connecticut, put her in a glass and wood display case, and added a sign warning others not to open the door.

Annabelle the Doll Will Be On Display in Augusta, Maine, in September

Now, Annabelle is touring the country (in her cabinet, I assume), and she will be at the Augusta Civic Center on September 6th and 7th for the Maine Paranormal and Horror convention, which is for lovers of all things supernatural. I didn't include a photo of the real Annabelle because, honestly, she freaks me out. You can find it on the Facebook page for the event.

The visit has taken on a new sense of the macabre after paranormal investigator Dan Rivera died suddenly last month, while taking Annabelle on tour. Officials say Rivera was alone when he died, and there was no sign of Annabelle. The cause of death is said to have been from natural causes.

Now, Grunge reports that comedian Matt Rife and his friend, Elton Castee, have just bought the Warren Museum and its contents, including Annabelle. Keep that door closed, guys.
