A logging truck crashed into a utility pole Thursday night in Weston, breaking the pole and pulling down wires, police said.

The crash occurred at about 9 p.m. at the intersection of Route 1 and Cropley Road, Maine State Police said in a news release.

The driver of the truck, Michael Steeves, 56, of Weston, attempted to make a right turn onto Cropley Road but missed the road due to heavy fog, the release said.

The truck struck a pole, bringing down wires. A second logging truck traveling behind Steeves became entangled in the wires, but there was no damage to the second truck, and the driver was not hurt.

Police did not say if Steeves was injured in the accident.

Route 1 was shut down for more than two hours while crews cleaned up the accident.
