The Brooks Concert Series begins this weekend with Countryfest, featuring local bands, food, and fun!

Rob Dunbar Productions has launched a new concert series in the town of Brooks that will feature three different musical experiences. Later this summer, there will be 'Woodstock Style' and 'Rock Fest' concerts. But this weekend, the focus is on Country! I'll be stopping by to say hi and welcome everyone to the beginning of what will hopefully become a local Country tradition.

I met Rob, face to face, last year when we had lunch with Rowdy Yates of the Country Gold show. But we've talked on the phone many times about Rob's involvement with the Warm Waldo fundraiser that raised money for heat assistance  in Waldo County. He's a very nice guy with some big ideas, and the ability to back up the plans that he makes. So I'm excited to be a part of his latest venture!

While the music is going on, there will be yummy treats for sale, including ice cream from Stone Fox Creamery, food from the Brooks Boosters, and a lot more! Booths will be set up from a variety of folks selling t-shirts, crafts, jewelry, and more. And Hug a Soldier/Hug a Hero will be there too!

But the highlight of the event is a day filled with great Country bands from right here in Maine. The line-up goes like this:

  • The National Anthem with Holly Parker and the Color Guard
  • Cindy Campbell (Hey, that's me!) with welcoming remarks
  • Jim Fraser
  • B.J. Cross
  • Zack Daniels
  • Cornell & Judy McLellan
  • Greycrossing
  • John Whitman Sr.
  • Meghan Clark
  • Jack Duggins
  • Country Boots
  • The Tyler Healy Band

Brooks Countryfest is being held on Saturday, June 18, at the Brooks Community Park, off Route 139, at 11 Community Drive. Gates open at 11 a.m. and the music starts at noon. Tickets are only $10 each and are available at the door or online at Eventbrite. A portion of the day's proceeds will benefit Warm Waldo, an emergency heating assistance fund in Waldo County.
