Lobster Completely Sheds Its Shell While in the Tank at Fisherman’s Catch in Raymond [VIDEO]
The Fisherman's Catch in Raymond is a family run business specializing in the freshest seafood in the Lakes Region. How fresh? Just look at this lobster that was recently caught off the coast of Maine.
As the lobster was in the tank at The Fisherman's Catch, it actually shed his shell.
It takes about 30 minutes for a lobster to completely shed the old shell, according to lobsters.org. The website states that to start shedding, the part of the shell covering the body lifts up away from the tail, and that lobsters shed the body and head first.
Lobsters.org states that the "lobster pulls and pulls until it finally frees the bulky claw meat from the narrow joints." The lobster eventually takes on water to build itself a new "hydrostatic skeleton," according to the website.
