Police say two men ran from the scene of a crash in Limington after rear-ending a bus loaded with children.

Thirteen Children on the Bus Were Not Hurt

The crash happened just after 2:00 Friday afternoon in the area of 419 Sokokis Avenue in Limington. Maine State Police responded to the scene and found a vehicle and a school bus with severe damage. Thirteen children that were on the bus, as well as the bus driver, were not hurt in the incident.

Both Vehicles Were Disabled By the Crash

An investigation into the circumstances of the crash determined that the school bus had been traveling south on Sokokis Avenue, when it began to slow down as it approached Axelsen Road. The 4-door sedan that was traveling behind the bus failed to slow down in time and crashed into the back of the bus. Both vehicles had to be towed from the scene.

Two Suspects Remain at Large

Witnesses told the police that the two men in the sedan left the scene on foot, heading into the woods nearby. The only description, so far, is that they are white men who appeared to be in their 20's or 30's. A K-9 track was conducted and an article of clothing belonging to one of the suspects was found, but the men remain at large.

Maine Department of Public Safety spokesperson Shannon Moss says criminal charges are pending.
