No Arrests In A Scary Lewiston Street Shooting With 1 Victim
Lewiston Police are investigating after gunfire erupted in the street and one person was sent to the hospital.
Police Say There's One Known Victim in Tuesday's Shooting
The name of the victim has not been released but Lewiston Police say the male suffered a serious gunshot wound. Officers provided first aid, applying a tourniquet according to the Sun Journal, before transporting the victim to Central Maine Medical Center. At the last report, officials said he was in critical condition.
Witnesses Watched the Shooting and Told Police the Suspects Had Fled
It was just before 3:00 Tuesday afternoon when Lewiston Police received a report of gunshots near the intersection of Walnut and Pierce Streets. Officers who were nearby also heard the gunshots and rushed to the scene. As the officers arrived, they started making contact with witnesses, who told police the people involved in the incident had fled the scene after the shooting. One witness told WGME-TV that her 13-year-old son watched the victim get shot. While officers were canvassing the area, they found the victim who had been shot. He was taken to the hospital.
Lewiston Police Have Not Reported Any Arrests or Suspects' Names
