A Drug Trafficking Charge is Pending Against a Lewiston Man Already on Probation
Steven Braggs, 36, of Lewiston is charged with aggravated trafficking in cocaine.
He was taken into custody after members of the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency's Western District Task Force and Lewiston Police assisted U.S. Probation and Parole officers on a probation compliance check. Braggs was subject to the check because he was on supervised release, as part of a 2015 federal sentence for the charge of felon in possession of a firearm.
When law enforcement searched Braggs' hotel room in Lewiston, they seized 100 grams of cocaine that was found in his possession. He was arrested without incident and transported to the Androscoggin Jail, where he remains on a probation hold. After the arrest, officers obtained a search warrant for Bragg's home at 114 Wellman Street in Lewiston, where they seized an additional two kilos (1,878 grams) of cocaine, materials consistent with the trafficking of illegal drugs, and $25,300 in suspected drug proceeds.
Officials say the estimated retail value of the seized cocaine is $100,000.
