Unique One in One Hundred Million Lobster Caught by Maine Lobsterman
It's a little crazy that there are so many lobsters that have a color that is different than your typical lobster. This one is a new one that I haven't seen before. Have you?
Mount Desert Islander
On the Mount Desert Islander Facebook page, a photo of yet another uniquely colored lobster was posted that was caught by Swan’s Island lobsterman “Sput” Galen Staples and his sternman, Meghan Joyce.
The odds of catching this particular lobster are 1 in 100 million. Just to put it in perspective, the odds of you winning this week's Powerball Jackpot are about 1 in 292.2 million, which is a long shot to say the least. The odds of catching this lobster are about a third of the Powerball jackpot, so better odds, not much of a payout, though.
Cotton Candy Lobster
This lobster is a cotton candy lobster, but I'm sure it tastes nothing like cotton candy. This is a male lobster that has been named "Timmy" and is not at the University of Maine Center for Cooperative Aquaculture Research in Franklin, Maine.
The cotton candy name comes from the mix of light blue and light pink colors of the lobster's body, making it look sort of like cotton candy if you really squint your eyes.
Timmy is not going to find himself in a boiling pot of water, but instead will be in the touch tank at the University of Maine Center for Cooperative Aquaculture Research. He'll likely live for quite some time there, as lobsters frequently live to be over 100 years old.
