Police Say Guilford Man Arrested For Kidnapping After Holding Woman At Gunpoint In Local Motel

A 48-year-old man from Piscataquis County was arrested this week and charged with kidnapping, among other things, after police say he held a woman at gunpoint at a Bangor motel.

According to the Bangor Police Department, the incident allegedly took place at a motel on Oldlin Rd, where the victim claimed she was kept at gunpoint by a man named Joseph Pepin of Guilford.

"The victim said she had been staying in the motel room on Odlin Rd with Pepin over the week, and on the night of March 11th, he threatened her with a firearm and prevented her from leaving.

Authorities say the victim was able to escape at some point and file a report with the Bangor PD.

"Bangor Police’s Criminal Investigation Division was able to locate and recover a firearm from the scene and take Pepin into custody."

Pepin will face charges of Domestic Violence (Criminal Threatening), Possession of a Firearm (by a prohibited person), and Kidnapping.

He's currently being held at the Penobscot County Jail.

According to the Maine Coalition to End Domestic Violence (MCEDV) the organization works with thousands of people statewide who are directly experiencing domestic abuse and violence.
