A teen from Millinocket died in a motor vehicle crash near where officials found a deceased moose.

The Driver Was 17-Years-Old

Landon Gardner, 17, of Millinocket was found deceased at the scene of the crash.

A Vehicle Was Found in the Trees With a Dead Moose in the Road

Maine Department of Public Safety Spokesperson Shannon Moss says the Bangor Regional Communications Center received an automatic crash notification on Tuesday, at approximately 12:06. First responders went to the area of 789 Poplar Street in T3 Indian Purchase to investigate and found a vehicle off the road in the trees and a dead moose in the center of the roadway.

No One Else Was Hurt

Gardner was alone in the vehicle and was deceased before police arrived on the scene and no other vehicles were involved. No one witnessed the crash, so police say there's no way to know for sure, but indications suggest that he hit the moose and then went off the road instead of coming across the deceased moose and crashing while trying to avoid it.

Our sincerest condolences to Mr. Gardner's family and friends.
