The Augusta Man Was Arrested for Probation Violations
Zebbie Thomas, 32, of Hiram was taken into custody in Augusta and is being held on warrants and probation violations.
An Alleged Domestic Incident Preceded the Police Pursuit
Wednesday's incident began at approximately 7:00 in the morning, when Maine State Police Troopers were called to Monmouth to assist with an active motor vehicle pursuit. Maine Department of Public Safety Spokesperson Shannon Moss says the vehicle was possibly involved in a domestic incident that happened earlier in the day in Cumberland County and the female victim was reportedly in the vehicle with Thomas, who was driving. The police chase spanned from Winthrop to Monmouth and into Wales before it was terminated due to safety concerns.
Thomas Was Arrested at an Augusta Residence
Several hours later, the police learned that Thomas was at a residence on Sadies Way in Augusta. State Police set up a perimeter and the victim, who was not injured, was able to get out of the house safely. After a brief standoff, Thomas was arrested without incident. He was taken to the Kennebec County Jail for warrants and probation violations. The Cumberland County Sheriff's Office is investigating the alleged domestic incident. Police say additional charges may be forthcoming.
