The forecast for Saturday is sunny and comfortable. What would be cooler than hitting the open road, on a motorcycle, and riding up Route 1A for a good cause?

The 2nd Annual Ride for Recovery will be taking place this weekend, and it's not too late to get involved. Motorcyclists from all across the state are invited to take part.

Registration will take place from 9:00-10:45AM Saturday August 28th. The ride will start at Maine Military Supply at 179 Main Rd. in Holden and travel straight up Route 1A, ending at Friend & Friend at 227 State St. in Ellsworth.

Organizer Brian Tracy says "It will be a ride to help raise money for recovery programs at the Acadia Family center. Last year, we raised around $1200 with our ride and also received a generous donation after the fact to be able to hand off approximately $2700."

The 2nd Annual Ride to Recovery Event Page on Facebook says there will be a lot of fun waiting for folks when they reach Friend & Friend:

"The Otherside will be performing all of their great music. We will have food available from Wing Dingahs food truck. Vendors will be selling merch. Don't forget, we will have our 4 Class Bike Show with our One of a Kind awards. "

Tracy says the price to participate is $25 per bike.

"We had around 35 bikes show up last year and are hoping to double it or more. The more bikes the bigger the donation for the charity. We will have a band at the finish line in Ellsworth that is free to come see. Music will go from noon-3:00pm. We will have a few raffles as well. One raffle is for a full day tattoo session."

The riders plan to hit the road at 11AM.
