Maine Road Trip Spot Named ‘Most Beautiful Drive’ in State
There are plenty of amazing views and scenic spots to be found here in Maine, but this one has been getting national attention for a few years now!
While it’s certainly impressive that this Maine road was named the most beautiful drive in the state, we’d like to challenge that just a bit. Honestly, we think it’s one of the most beautiful drives in the entire country—although, we’ll admit, we might be just a little biased.
So, with that in mind, how does one even determine the most scenic or beautiful drive in Maine—or any state, for that matter? Did someone actually drive every road in Maine to compare and contrast?
Thrillist’s list of ‘The Most Beautiful Highway in Every State’ is based on the idea that America’s diverse roadways offer an unmatched way to experience the country’s stunning landscapes. The selections celebrate the variety of road travel our country offers, with each highway chosen for its unique ability to capture the natural beauty and spirit of its state.

Well, having said all that, which road trip destination in Maine was recently named the best scenic drive in our Pine Tree State?
According to Thrillist and their list highlighting ‘The Most Beautiful Highway in Every State,’ their selection for Maine is the Park Loop Road in Acadia National Park. A tough choice to argue with, Thrillist had the following to say about the Park Loop Road:
Acadia National Park is a beautiful place on its own, but toss in a smooth band of asphalt and you have the most stereotypically gorgeous fall drive imaginable.
Thrillist’s pick of Park Loop Road in Acadia National Park as the most beautiful drive in Maine is backed up by TripAdvisor.
TripAdvisor’s 2025 list of ‘The 10 Best Maine Scenic Drives’ also ranks the Park Loop Road at number one. Other stunning drives that could’ve made the cut include the scenic stretch of Route 9 connecting Ellsworth and Bangor, or the views near Walker’s Point in Kennebunkport—but really, Maine is packed with so many roads just waiting to be explored.
And there you have it—a choice that makes sense to anyone who’s driven it. The Park Loop Road in Acadia National Park was named the most beautiful drive in Maine.
What are your thoughts on Thrillist’s selection? Do you agree, or did you have a different place in mind? We’d love to hear from you! Feel free to join the conversation by messaging us on the app.
