A Bangor spa and wellness center is offering free spa services this weekend to cancer survivors, patients, and their caregivers.

The Cancer Spa and Wellness Day is being offered as a service of the Purple Iris Foundation, which works to raise awareness of pancreatic cancer, and ease the challenge of people dealing with all types of cancers. Each year, the organization plants beds of the purple flowers, with signage to call attention to their cause.

But this time around, they're offering something much more hands-on and personally beneficial for folks who are dealing, or have dealt with cancer. The folks at Sacred Core Wellness & Retreat, on State Street in Bangor will need to see a doctor's written permission and document of diagnosis in order to give the free spa and wellness treatments.

The services that will be offered include Foot Detox Soaks, Zen Doodle, Massage Therapy, Reiki, Paraffin Dips, and Reflexology. In addition, refreshments will be served to complete the much-deserved day of pampering. It's all free to caregivers, cancer survivors, and those going through therapy after a cancer diagnosis, although donations will be accepted for the Purple Iris Foundation.

It's all happening Saturday, April 28th, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Sacred Core Wellness & Retreat, 139 State Street, #2, in Bangor.Find more information on the Cancer Spa and Wellness Day Facebook page.
