FBI Says Up to $15K Reward for Info About Missing Maine Teen
Maine State Police and the FBI say a significant reward is offered for information about the disappearance of a 14-year-old Maine teen.
A Significant Reward is Offered in the Case of a Missing Maine Teen
In a joint media conference with the Maine State Police on Monday, an FBI representative announced a reward of up to $15,000 for information that leads to Stefanie's return or the arrest and prosecution of anyone involved in her disappearance.
Maine Police Say Proximity to the Border is Why the FBI is Involved in the Case
Stefanie Damron turned 14 after she vanished on September 24th from New Sweden. Maine State Police say Damron disappeared after walking from her home and into nearby woods. When last seen, Stefanie wore blue jeans, a long-sleeved blue shirt, and black Harley-Davidson hiking boots. Damron is 5' tall, 130 pounds, with green eyes, and shoulder-length brown hair. Maine State Police said in Monday's media conference that it was not unusual for Stefanie to run away.
Searches of parcels of land near where she was last seen have not recovered any evidence of the teen. Her information has been shared nationally, as well as in Canada. The FBI's CARD team became involved in the search in late October because of New Sweden's proximity to the border and the potential that she may have crossed state or international boundaries. CARD stands for Child Abduction Rapid Deployment and the mission of the team is to investigate potential crimes against children, including things like trafficking, kidnappings, and abuse.
Information About Damron's Disappearance Can Be Called Into Maine Police or the FBI
Anyone with information about this case is urged to contact the Maine State Police at 800-924-2261 or 207-532-5400, or the FBI at 1-800-CALL-FBI.
