At least one person has died in a rollover crash on Western Avenue in Newburgh.

What Happened?

It was around 5:30 Monday afternoon when Deputies with the Penobscot County Sheriff's Office responded to the area of 2886 Western Avenue in Newburgh for a report of a crash. When they arrived, they found a 2022 Mitsubishi that had struck several trees and rolled over. Officials say an initial investigation suggests speed was a factor in the crash.

Any Information About the Deceased?

So far, officials have not released names or any other details about the crash.

Was the Road Shut Down for Long?

 

Newburgh Fire and Rescue Department shut down a portion of Western Avenue for much of the evening. Traffic backed up as officials worked the scene of what was determined to be a fatal.
