1 Person is Dead in a Hancock County Camper Fire
One person is dead after a camper caught fire in Mariaville.
Where Was the Fire?
Maine Department of Public Safety spokesperson Shannon Moss says the Mariaville Fire Department responded to a fire in Mariaville at approximately 5:30 Thursday morning. When crews arrived at 28 Freedom Ridge Road they found that the fire involved a camper trailer. The camper had been placed there recently by the property owner.
What Do Officials Know At This Point?
When human remains were found in the camper, officials contacted the State Fire Marshal's Office. Investigators went to the location and began processing the scene. They will work to try and determine how the fire started.
The remains were transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta for an examination. Officials say 34-year-old Tyler Anderson was staying in the camper but the remains could not immediately be identified. Confirmation will be made through DNA testing.
Do Officials Suspect Foul Play?
An initial investigation revealed no indication of foul play. This fire is still under investigation.
