After a week that featured brutal cold paired with strong winds, a warming trend is in the forecast for much of Maine.

The Bangor area saw wind chills near -20 earlier this week, and you probably saw at least one dude wearing shorts. The forecast will feel tropical in comparison next week. The National Weather Service is forecasting a warming trend, Tuesday through Thursday. Temps are expected to warm into the 40's Tuesday and Wednesday, and to near 50 degrees Thursday.

Prior to the warm up, temperatures will remain near freezing through the weekend. Plenty of sunshine is in the extended forecast, stretching from Thursday, well into next week. A late week storm may bring another round of precipitation to much of Maine. Precipitation type, duration, and exact timing of the storm is still undetermined.

Spring officially arrives March 20, at 5:37 A.M.
