Expected Snowfall Raised to 12-18 Inches for Bangor Ahead of Friday Storm
Forecasters have adjusted expected snowfall totals for the Bangor and Downeast areas, as the next winter storm nears.
The National Weather Service is watching another winter storm that could bring another 12-18 inches of snowfall to the Bangor and Downeast areas, Thursday night into Friday. Forecasters say rain will change over to snow Thursday afternoon, into the evening hours. A wintry mix of sleet and freezing rain is expected along the Downeast coast.
Snow will fall heavy at times throughout the overnight hours into early Friday. A large portion of the state from Ellsworth, north to just shy of Presque Isle, could see up to 18 inches of snow.
Much of Maine has been upgraded to a Winter Storm Warning ahead of the storm.
For a scale reference of the storm, forecasters say you could drive from Aroostook County to Crockett County, Texas, and never be out of a Winter Storm Warning.
