With strong gusty winds in the forecast for parts of the state Tuesday night, Emera Maine officials say crews are on standby, prepared for any outages the storm may create.

Predicting wind gusts up to 50 mph, the National Weather Service issued a wind advisory for Penobscot County until 1:00 a.m. on Wednesday.

Bob Potts, a communications specialist for Emera Maine, said the wind gusts could bring down trees and power lines.

"We are actively monitoring the weather forecast and current conditions, and have taken a proactive approach to ensure we have available resources at the ready," Potts said in an email Tuesday night. "Additional crews have been placed on standby through the evening and overnight in anticipation of any power outages."

Potts says Emera Maine vehicles are loaded with storm kits and a number of supplies field workers may need Tuesday night and into Wednesday.

Emera Maine customers can track the outages using the company's Live Outage and Restoration Map.
