A Friday morning crash on Route 1A Friday morning has claimed the life of a Bangor man.

Where is the Crash?

The crash on the Bangor Road, also known as Route 1A ,near the Winkumpaugh Road intersection was reported to police just before 6:30. Ellsworth Police closed the road and told drivers to expect delays. They had asked that drivers avoid the area until they could get the scene cleared.

What Do We Know About the Crash?

Pictures from witnesses to the crash show a pickup and an SUV that collided head-on. According to WABI-TV, a 43-year-old Bangor man has died of injuries sustained in that crash. His name has not been released, pending the notification of his family. There's no word on how badly the other driver was hurt, but officials say both drivers were taken to the hospital, where the Bangor man later died.
