An elderly woman from Madison was found safe after she went missing while walking her dog Sunday morning.

The Maine Warden Service says they were called in by the Somerset County Sheriff's Office after family members of Rita Gutchess say she failed to return home after taking her dog for a walk at about 10:30 in the morning. The 74-year-old was located at around 3:00 in the afternoon about a half mile in the woods behind her home. Her dog was with her.

Gutchess told Wardens that she had become dizzy and sat down on a rock wall. She started to holler and was heard by Game Wardens who were close by. The Maine State Police also helped with the search. Gutchess wasn't hurt and was back home Sunday evening.
