It'll be cold so bundle up, but you'll flying around the beautiful rink so fast you won't even notice. Especially if you are layered up.

For those who are unaware of the Ice Rink, they had a vision, they fundraised and the Eddington Municipal Ice Rink is a reality. Thanks to all the hard workers and sponsors for making it happen.

The rink is located at the Eddington Town Office, 906 Maine Road.

And man is it something!

So channel your inner figure skater, or hockey player and make it a plan to get out and use the rink this winter.  Skating makes for a great family event.

Two-thirds of the rink will be for skating, and the other third will be for stick and puck. For those not familiar with stick and puck, it’s just what it sounds like. Pick up hockey. And yes they will have nets for hockey. He shoots. He scores!

The best plan is to check the Eddington Ice Rink Facebook page for daily updates on times and ice conditions and other information you may need to know.

But the plan is to be open every day from 9 a.m. until 10 p.m. It will be Stick and Puck only from 7 to 10 p.m., and on Saturdays, skating only, no Stick and Puck.

Keep in mind that hours can be altered therefore it is best to check the Facebook page before etching your plans in stone.

And being a pick-up, stick and puck player from way back, allow me to pass along the rules (that were made with me in mind.)

  • No alcohol
  • No Food or Drink on the ice
  • No Checking.
  • No Slap Shots.
  • No Profanity.  Even if you fall down and go boom.

Helmets are recommended, especially for young skaters.

I have a Bobby Orr sweater from his junior days before turning pro with the Bruins. And yes his number was 2, not his familiar 4. That’ll be me. Doing my best to remember the last rule from the above list.

And anyone interested in skating or playing some hockey do reach out, we’ll form a group. There are options all over the place to skate.

Welcome to the Eddington Municipal Ice Rink!
