A Corinth man is facing a murder charge after allegedly killing his mother.

Corinth, Maine Man Accused of Killing His Mother

Daniel Derosier, 22, of Corinth, was arrested on Saturday for the death of his mother, 41-year-old Abigail Thomas, also of Corinth.

The mother and son lived together in a home at 344 Main Street in Corinth.

Penobscot County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a report of a shooting at the residence just before 8:30 Saturday morning. When they arrived, they found Abigail deceased from an apparent gunshot wound.

Her body was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta, where an autopsy will be performed.

An initial investigation indicates that Ms. Thomas had been involved in an altercation with her son prior to the shooting.

Penobscot County officials requested assistance from the Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit.

Corinth, Maine Man Charged With Murder for the Death of His Mother

Daniel Derosier was taken into custody, charged with murder, and transported to the Penobscot County Jail.

A large police presence was at the Corinth home during the day, with crime scene tape surrounding the residence.

This incident remains under investigation.
