This New Year's Eve while you're watching the ball drop in Downtown Bangor, you may be able to see a comet to the left of the crescent moon.

According the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory, the comet with a name to long to print here, makes a return to the inner solar system about once every five years.  You'll need a telescope or binoculars to check it out!  Look for a blueish green head with a long blue tail.

The National Weather Service is predicting a cloudy New Year's Eve here in Bangor, with snow likely, possibly 3 to five inches, so we may be out of luck.  But, here's hoping!
