Mike Arell is the Pre-K to 8th grade music teacher at Veazie Community School. He was a guest on the Q106.5 Morning Show last year to help get out the word that he was hosting an instrument drive. That drive later led to his school receiving a large grant for instruments from Walmart.

Since then Mike has recorded a solo piano Christmas album that will go on sale on Thanksgiving. Not to make some extra pocket money. All proceeds from the sale will go to Good Shepherd Food Bank of Maine. Every dime.

When Mike told me about this I asked him why Good Shepherd Food Bank and he explained that recently he discovered how many Mainers, especially children, live with food insecurity. He said "I kept thinking about it for several days. Then I realized I could record and release a Christmas album as a great way to benefit the Food Bank and to raise awareness about food insecurity and the needs of Mainers."

Covid-19 pandemic has led to the fact that Veazie Community School will not be able to hold their annual winter concert. Nor will Mike be able to have his Christmas concert that he directs at his church. "In a way, this is my personal Christmas performance for 2020."

Beginning on Thursday the 26th, anyone can buy and download Christmas: Music for solo piano. The full $10 price will go to the Food  Bank. The album will also be available on dozens of streaming and download platforms like Spotify, Apple Music, You Tube, Amazon Music and more, but not all the purchase price goes to the Food Bank when you get it in that manner.

Here's the link to buy the album and support the Good Shepherd Food Bank.
