Maine Man Accused Of Driving Away After Hitting A Pedestrian
A Bradford man is facing charges after a pedestrian-involved crash in Charleston.
Penobscot County Officials Say the Driver Had an Outstanding Warrant
Gary Smith Jr, 33, of Bradford is charged with failing to report a personal injury crash and was arrested on an outstanding failure to appear warrant.

The Pedestrian in the Charleston Incident Was Taken to the Hospital With Minor Injuries
According to the Penobscot County Sheriff's Office, Deputies were dispatched to the Bradford Road in Charleston just before 1:00 Sunday afternoon for a report of a vehicle vs pedestrian crash. Officials say the pedestrian suffered minor injuries when they were hit by a car that then fled the scene. The Charleston Fire Department says the victim, whose name has not been released, was taken by ambulance to a local hospital.
Smith's Vehicle Was Found on Dover Road in Charleston
Deputies patrolled the area, looking for the suspect vehicle, which they located on the Dover Road in Charleston. When they confirmed that Smith was the driver, he was arrested.
According to the Maine Department of Transportation's Public Crash Query Tool, there have been 199 crashes in the state this year that involved a pedestrian. Six of those have been fatal.
