Traffic backed up on I-95 in Hampden Monday afternoon after a woman drove her car into the back of a tractor trailer.

It was around 12:30 when a 57-year-old Massachusetts woman drove her station wagon into the back of the truck at a high rate of speed. Police told WABI-TV that witnesses had been calling in reports of the woman driving into the breakdown lane and then into the median. When police arrived, the Subaru had hit the truck and then struck a guardrail.

The woman sustained severe head lacerations, while the truck's driver wasn't injured. Police say they're investigating whether the woman was impaired or whether it may have been a medical condition. Her name has not been released.
