Bye Bye July, Here Comes August
Here’s comes August, whether we’re ready for it or not. And who knows what it’ll bring, it is 2020 after all. I’m sure we’re all wishing for the same thing. Health and Happiness.
For me, August is a month full of great memories. Going back to childhood, August was always the month my Dad took his 2 or 3 week vacation. So we got to come to Maine. We actually only passed through but still lots of great Maine memories for me. I talked to my Father recently about those trips on Highway 2. Memories of Mexico, Rumford, Norridgewock, Canaan. On to Bangor & Brewer and then Highway 9 to Calais. I remember the mills. The black flies. So many trees. And beautiful summer days. It was always so special.
We’ve been through so much in the past 5 months. It’s crazy. Just another 14 months and we'll be able to celebrate a New Year. But for now, here comes August. The time of the year we usually start asking ourselves – Where did the summer go? I don’t know where the summer went…but I can tell you where it didn’t go. It didn’t go on a vacation this year. It didn’t go to a water park. Or a baseball game. Or a concert. Or fair or festival. It didn’t go anywhere on an airplane. So where did it go?
I guess we can’t stress about what we can’t control, and we just have to make the most of everything. But here comes August, and here’s to it being a month full of sunshine for all. Literally and figuratively.
