Over 2,000 Emera Maine customers in the Brownville area are without electricity this morning after a construction vehicle struck two utility poles.

Emera Maine officials say that 2,309 customers were left in the cold when the poles were hit, knocking the power lines down. Affected towns include Brownville, Brownville Junction, Ebeemee TWP, Lake View Plantation, Medford, Milo, T4R9 NWP, and Williamsburg TWP. The estimated time of restoration of power is 1:00 and so, with today's frigid temperatures, anyone without an alternate heat source is encouraged to seek warmer shelter temporarily.

Crews are working to restore power as quickly as possible.  Drivers are reminded to move over and change lanes, if possible, when passing utility workers. Anyone using alternative heat sources in the meantime are urged to ensure they're using the heater in accordance with manufacturer guidelines.
