Brewer Man Arrested Again After 10 Years on Sex Offender Registry
A registered sex offender from Brewer is now facing new charges involving inappropriate images of a child under 12.
Who Was Arrested?
Aaron Astran, 31 of Brewer is charged with 3 counts of possession of sexually explicit material with a minor under 12 years old and 1 count of criminal attempt.
Why Was He On the Maine Sex Offender Registry
Officials say his arrest was the result of a long investigation by their office, as well as Homeland Security Investigations and the Brewer Police Department. Officials say he was arrested on Thursday, March 7, 2024.

At the time of these offenses, Astran was reportedly on the Maine Sex Offender Registry after a conviction in 2013. That was the year he was convicted of visual sexual aggression against a child and possession of sexually explicit material. At that time, he was ordered to be on the registry for 10 years.

The Penobscot County Sheriff's Office is reminding parents to talk with their children and educate them about the dangers of the internet and social media. Parents should stay involved with their children's activities and monitor who they're talking to.
