An employee of a Brewer daycare center is facing charges after an incident with a child that was caught on video.
Incident at Brewer, Maine Childcare Center Prompts Charges for an Employee
Blake Sullivan, of Carmel, was working at Elevate Childcare Center in Brewer when the alleged incident happened in April. WABI-TV reports that an occupational therapist who happened to be in the building, working for another agency with another child, filed a report with the Maine Department of Health and Human Services.
The incident was recorded on video and prompted an investigation for alleged rough handling of one of the center's charges. In the video, the worker is behind a half-wall, but the child's legs can be seen as he is lifted in the air and then brought roughly to the floor, on his back.

Sullivan has been charged with felony assault on a child under the age of 6, reckless conduct, and endangering the welfare of a child.

Maine Family Hopes to Raise Awareness of Potential Abuse in Childcare Settings
The child's mother, Kristen Boucher, says the family didn't hear about the incident until a month after it happened.
Boucher said in a Facebook post that this case is not just about justice for their son, but also about raising awareness that this kind of abuse can happen. She says if reporting this incident can prevent it from happening to even one other family, then it was worth it.
